Doug was a regular writer for the website
of the University of Illinois Coordinated
Science Laboratory (CSL), one of the premier information technology
labs in the country. For instance, CSL won an Emmy as the lab that invented
the plasma television. It also was home of PLATO, the world’s first computer-aided
educational system. Today, it is a leader in many areas, including wireless
communications, robotics, information security, medical imaging, air
transportation systems, speech and face recognition systems, and parallel
computing.
